7 Basic Internet Services To Help Boost Your Online Marketing Efforts
Regardless of what business you are involved with, if you are not utilizing the power of the internet, then you are losing out. There are tons of different new and great strategies and tools for marketing online, but this is a list of 7 basic internet services that can assist your online marketing efforts.
1. Emaill
The free email service that I recommend that you use is Gmail account for any business that you start on the internet, because you also have access to Google Adsense, Google Adwords, Google Analytics and the many other marketing tools and services that Google provides.
It is a good idea to open up MSN and Yahoo email accounts as well. Open these account under the same id as your Gmail account if possible. As a matter of fact this should be the first thing you should do when you start a Internet Marketing Business. They are all free:)
2. Domain Name
Your domain name is your address online. (www. something.com). You can either buy a domain name or get a free one.
If you want to have a professional appearance online it is better to pay to have your own domain name as opposed to a free website. You will spend about $10 per domain name if you purchase it for a year. You will spend about $20 if you purchase domain name for two years.
Search engines tend to rank 2-year domain names more favorably than 1-year domain names. If you are new to internet marketing a 1-year domain name should work just fine.
3. Hosting
You need hosting for your domain name so that other people can see your web address. There are many different hosting companies to choose from. You can expect to pay less than $10/month for a good hosting company. You usually get a large discount if you pay for a year or more up front.
4. Autoresponder
Building a customer and/or prospect list is one of the most important activities that you can be involved in, regardless of the type of business you have. Having an autoresponder makes building an email list simple.
You can expect to pay less than $20/month for a good autoresponder starting out. Again, there are many different options to choose from.
5. Receiving Money
You should plan to eventually have a merchant account to receive all types of payments but the least you should have when you are online is a Paypal account. You can open account for free at paypal.com. Anybody with a major credit card can send you money if you have a Paypal account. Also there are many online (and offline) companies who pay you through your Paypal account.
Another great benefit of Paypal, besides being free, is that is allows you to place payment buttons on your websites and sales pages.
6. Communication
You can communicate via video phone with people clear across the world with a service called Skype. It is free to download and the video calls are free from your message box. Even if you do make long distance calls with Skype, it still only costs pennies on the dollar.
I remember when I first downloaded Skype years ago. It seemed rudimentary compared to some of the other instant messenger services at the time, but they have come along way.
7. Social Media/ Web 2.0 Sites
Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and YouTube are some of the most popular, but there are tons of other web2.0 sites that can put you in touch with new prospects and customers. The best thing about them is that they are all free!
I recommend having separate business and personal accounts.
The internet can seem overwhelming for a new business person. These are some of the basic internet services that are inexpensive and easy to use. They can also assist in your marketing efforts.
Much success,
